Sasha Allen has been the only openly transgender contestant to have reached The Battle Rounds of The Voice Live Shows. That has been the case for the past 21 seasons. Sasha Allen and Jim Newtown, Conn. duo have made it into the Top 8 of the competition! Sasha revealed that he was transgender when they were preparing their entry to participate in the Blind Auditions, and he said to Parade.com that the decision required thought and careful consideration. "That was a very difficult decision because you're showing a sensitive part of yourself to millions and millions of folks," said Sasha, who transitioned while he was at high school. "But this past week during fan week], seeing people's reactions to and support for the show as well as the impact it has had on those around you really demonstrated that it was worth it, and the right decision regardless of it being difficult to take." "'Have you ever Seen the Rain' is one that's been among the songs that we've been wanting to feature on the show for a long time," Sasha told Parade.com. We played the song before The Voice even existed. The moment we heard it, we were over the moon. We knew the tune and had some ideas of how to organize it. The fans truly hit the mark."
